Hostels:

Koala Beach Resort Hervey Bay (1800 354 535):
408 Esplanade
This is one of two main party hostels in Hervey Bay. It isn't hard to tell that more effort is put into the bar than the rooms. There are 6 people to the rooms which have three sets of bunk beds, four walls and a roof. The rooms here are of much lower standard to it's Noosa and Airlie Beach counterparts. And just like the other hostels, the kitchen is fairly small and seating is limited. In saying that the bar isn't bad and it has good promotions and food. They also run excellent self-drive tours to Fraser. Beds in rooms of 6 cost $15 per night

Boomerang Backpackers (07 4124 3970):
335 Esplanade
If you fancy a room for two, instead of the usual with 4 or 6 people, this is the hostel for you. As well as a room for two, you share a unit with another double, then all four of you have your own mini-kitchen and mini-living room. It's like your own tiny flat when you're meant to be backpacking! If you want to keep to the dorms, they are still on offer. Dorms of 4 cost $15 and doubles start at $30 per night

Beaches Backpackers (1800 655 501):
195 Torquay Terrace
The other party hostel in Hervey Bay. The bar here is very lively and seems to be more popular for the social life than Koalas. Unfortuately, this hostel also worries more about their bar than their rooms. The bar does decent food at decent prices and is always having parties. A bed in a 4-bed dorm costs $17 a night
